Going
into its second decade, the Saddle River Valley chapter of La Chaine des
Rotisseurs is dedicated to excellence. We seek the best restaurants
in New Jersey and Manhattan for our dinners and grace the table with
outstanding wines. The members of our chapter travel throughout the
United States and the world for business and pleasure. They share
their dining experiences and winery visits with other members. It is
the sharing of these moments, and knowledge of cuisines and wines from all
points of the globe, that gives our chapter its dynamic personality.
Soon after its founding, our chapter began building its wine cellar.
Today, the chapter's collection contains outstanding wines from major
vineyards in America, France, Italy, and Spain. Our dinners are
planned around a specific wine theme; and the members support the cellar
through annual cellar fees. Beyond the chapter's wines, one annual
event that members always look forward to is our annual 10-year old bottle
BYOB dinner. In years when Bordeaux made superior wines we highlight
that great region with members' bottles from the classified chateaux.
In lesser Bordeaux years we turn to California cabernet sauvignons or
Meritage wines. In accordance with the by-laws of La Chaine des
Rotisseurs, our chapter is directed by the Bailli and supported by
officers. They are as follows:
John L. Foy, Bailli
Dennis J. Drasco, Vice Chancelier-Argentier
Wayne J. Positan, Vice Conseiller
Gastronomique Hans
Egg, Vice Conseiller Culinaire
Bartholomew D'Ascoli, Vice Charge de
Missions Wendy Piller,
